SatinLore Research Privacy Notice

Published 30 October 2026

Who looks after your information

SatinLore is operated by MEDICID LIMITED. This operator is responsible for how your personal information is used. In this notice, “we” means that operator, trading as SatinLore. Contact SatinLore Team at team@satinlore.com about your information or your choices.

This notice covers our waitlist questionnaire, research follow-ups, selection for early access and paid tests, and the questionnaire prize draw. It does not cover all data collected when you use the product itself. We will explain any extra data needed for a test before you agree to take part.

What we ask for

We ask for your waitlist email, country, confirmation that you are 18 or older, and reading habits. These include how often you read, paper or screen use, reading devices, apps and story sources. We also ask about your interest in early access, time for tests, and contact choices.

Age group, gender, story genres, toy ownership, toy brands and models, and other personal research answers are optional. Toy and adult-fiction answers may reveal private details about your sex life. We ask for your explicit consent before this part of the form. You may skip the whole section or any question in it. Please do not send intimate images, private story text, passwords, health details, identity documents or bank details through this form.

We record the time of your response and your consent choices. We may match your response to your waitlist record using your email. If you enter the draw, we also keep entry checks, draw results and contact records. Winners and paid testers may later need to provide payment details through a separate secure process. The form does not collect a public review or testimonial.

How we use your answers

We use research answers to improve SatinLore, choose which reading tools and toys to support, understand readers as a group, and match willing users to suitable tests. We may group people by relevant reading habits, devices or test needs. We use group findings to plan the product and its messaging. We do not sell your answers, infer your sexual orientation from your reading choices, or send personal toy or adult-fiction answers to advertising platforms.

We use your email to match your waitlist record, reply to requests and run the draw if you enter. We contact you about research or a test place only if you ask us to. News and launch offers have a separate opt-in. The research consent choice is not marketing consent. We will ask separately before publishing your words as a testimonial.

Prizes and how we choose testers

The current questionnaire draw has ten US$50 cash prizes. Each valid entrant has one entry. Winners are picked at random under the published draw rules. Skipping optional questions, saying no to research consent or marketing, and giving critical feedback do not reduce your chance in this draw.

Early access and paid testing use a separate selection process. Relevant answers may improve your chances when they show that you fit a test we need to run. For example, we may need a certain toy, reading device or reading habit. We also consider availability, the mix of people needed and the number of places. We do not give a general bonus just for sharing more private information. You can provide relevant details later if you prefer.

Selection and payment are not guaranteed. Selected testers may earn up to US$500 in total for agreed test tasks. This is payment for work, not a prize for positive feedback. Each later cash prize offer will have its own rules. This survey does not automatically enter you into future draws or give you extra entries. A team member reviews tester choices; we do not use an automatic score alone to decide who receives a test invitation.

Our reasons under data protection law

For voluntary research answers and research contact, we rely on your consent under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a). Where toy or adult-fiction answers reveal information about your sex life, we also rely on your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a). This covers the research and suitable-test matching described above. We do not rely on a general research exemption.

For the minimum information needed to run a draw you enter, or a paid test you agree to, we rely on the terms of that offer under Article 6(1)(b). For necessary fraud checks and a limited record of consent, complaints and completed administration, we rely on legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f). Those interests are running a fair programme, protecting participants and keeping evidence of our actions. We do not use this basis to continue optional sensitive research after consent is withdrawn. Where a specific law requires payment or tax records, we rely on Article 6(1)(c). Marketing relies on a separate consent.

Who can see the information

Only authorised team members and service providers who need the information for these tasks may access it. The questionnaire uses Google Forms. We match responses with waitlist records in our private contact system, hosted by Cloudflare. Our email, automation, contact-management and payment services receive only the details needed for their role. We keep sensitive research answers out of general marketing exports and email previews.

We may share limited information when required by law or to handle a legal claim. Any winner information needed to show that a prize was awarded will be handled under the draw rules, including the stated objection route. We will not include toy details or reading preferences in a winner announcement.

Where information is handled

Some service providers may handle information outside the UK. Contact team@satinlore.com for details. Research consent is not a substitute for the required safeguards for overseas transfers.

Your choices and rights

You do not have to join the research. You may leave optional questions blank. The form marks the basic fields needed to submit a response. We need contact and eligibility details to administer a draw entry, and enough relevant details to match a particular test. Declining optional research does not remove you from the general waitlist.

You can withdraw research consent at any time by emailing team@satinlore.com. We will stop the uses based on that consent and delete the affected personal answers unless a separate lawful duty requires a limited record. Withdrawal does not undo use that was lawful before you withdrew. It does not remove an existing valid draw entry or cancel payment already earned. If we no longer have details needed for a specific test, we may need to ask for them before offering that test.

You can also ask to see or correct your information, have it deleted, or limit its use. You may object to uses based on legitimate interests and ask for a portable copy where that right applies. These rights depend on the circumstances. We may need a proportionate check of your identity before releasing information. We normally respond within one month; if the law permits more time, we will tell you why.

Use the unsubscribe link to stop marketing, or contact the team. This does not cancel a valid prize entry or earned payment. We may keep the minimum opt-out record needed to avoid contacting you again. Contact us separately if you want to withdraw your draw entry.

You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/ or to the relevant data protection authority where you live. You can contact us first, but you do not have to.

Changes to this notice

We will date new versions and tell you before using your information for a new purpose. Where a new use needs consent, we will ask again. We keep a record of the notice and consent wording that applied when you answered.
